我對音樂會的印象開始於上個世紀末的托福考試，因為托福聽力考題中總有關於音樂會的話題，而答案永遠是對音樂會的肯定和讚揚，所以即使聽不懂也能答對，可見音樂會具有很強的正能量。

移民後由於女兒喜歡音樂，多年來，我參加過無數的音樂會，有家庭的，教會的，慈善的，紀念的，娛樂的，小學的，初中的，高中的，本科的，碩士的。最近還參加了女兒博士畢業的鋼琴演奏會，這是女兒的最後一次考試，也是決定女兒能否畢業的小型考核音樂會。儘管時間安排在晚上9點半，11點多才結束，可還是來了許多人來捧場，我擔心咳嗽會影響演奏，於是坐在後排，發現女兒房東夫婦也來了，我也沒咳嗽，真是意外。中場休息時，我旁邊的一位華人觀眾主動和我聊天，原來他是我女兒的學生，在學校做博士后研究，幾年前他主動想學彈鋼琴，於是在學校廣告上找老師，他很喜歡我女兒的教學方式，還想繼續學習，特意同他的女友一起前來捧場，音樂會結束后還擔心去不了後台，將一束鮮花托我轉交，我說你們可以去的，結果還在後台合影留念。大家都很高興，音樂會十分完美，令人難忘！

在西方，各種形式的音樂會已形成一種文化，一種由家長，社會共同支持，鼓勵孩子學習音樂的文化，是對演奏者的欣賞和認可。在各類學校都受到很高的重視，我昨晚還參加了一個中學的春季音樂會，原因是女兒給合唱團鋼琴伴奏。節目持續近2個小時，有不同年級的樂隊演奏，交響音樂，室內音樂及大合唱。有個曲目叫非洲夢（African Dream）講的是有個老師在非洲用廢垃圾當成樂器組成樂隊的感人故事。節目單里還列舉了學習音樂的20個好處（附后）。

我曾在國內上學，工作多年，對音樂會的記憶只有個別同學的獨唱和電視上的維也那新年音樂會，現在一定會好多了，因為家長普遍重視。
