Is scholar-bashing the way forward?

This is sheer bullshit!  Where do you normally find writers or scholars being attacked or even threatened with death because of their political viewpoints?  In Islamic radical countries or done by Islamic extremists. It's not unusual for scholars to stir up controversies in any countries, but it's only in a handful of  barbaric countries that controversial scholars will be physically assaulted.  It seems to me that some people in China are more interested in resorting to violence to settle political or academic issues than engaging in meaningful debates.  What a shame.

 

Yes, there's definitely something wrong with the "scholar bashing" phenomenon, but instead of accusing of the scholars, shall we take a closer look at the readers themselves? Come on, we desperately need more tolerance for "diversity" and curb the worryingly growing popularity of "herd mentality」 and 「violence complex」 among the Chinese youth.
