科普：Cloud Computing（雲計算）- Google App Engine

大家都聽到過Cloud Computing（雲計算）嗎？簡單地說，所謂的雲計算，就是把Inernet（網路）當成自己的電腦，你自己可以不用有硬體設備和才能，就可以通過Internet達成你想要的目標。
 
Google 的Cloud Computing就 Google App Engine，你可以把你的網路服務放到它那兒。它讓你在Google的體系內運行你的網路服務。很容易開發網路服務（目前可用Python 和Java 兩種語言），免費開始 （可有500MB的數據儲量和多達每月5百萬的訪問量）。

那麼你就可以省下這些：

1。不用再買網路伺服器等硬體設備
2。可以不再僱用系統管理員（System Admin), 資料庫管理員（Database Admin)等高科技人員。 呵呵，你若從事這兩個行業，以前是鐵飯碗，現在可要當心了，若你單位改用Google App Engine，你就要下崗了。
 
Google App Engine對中小企業有很大的吸引力，小公司可以免費用它，超過了它的免費額，也是用多少收多少費用，肯定能節省很多。
 
現在最大的問題是：我能不能相信你Google， 若我把東西放你那兒，弄丟了怎麼辦？前不久，T-Mobile (Verizon?, 兩者之一，我忘了那個了）在用微軟的Cloud Computing, 就發生微軟弄丟了它的數據的事故。所以要大家信服，還有一段路要走。

a good dba should be able to manage the systems too.

but most of sys admin guys would have problems sooner or later...

but the management of the data structure and data for the particular business still needs dba. surely it could be also out-sourced but i doubt it would work very well. after all, dba from the same company would have better understanding of the company's business.

Google App Engine has its own database structure called Big Table and it is the best database ever (my opinion). Just look at the performance of google search.

所以，最大的問題是你是不是可以信任Google

這個問題不大，Google的保密措施還不錯，至少比微軟好多了
