Louisiana 還有一個法官不許白人和黑人結婚呢

這是上周看到的新聞,當時就笑翻了肚子, 不想幹了就辭么,幹嗎要為難別人呢?
理由是跨種族婚姻不牢固,遲早要離婚,所以他不准他們結婚.
現在要開除那名法官了.

他不是法官,justice of peace 太平紳士, 民間人士擔任維持社區安寧及處理一些較簡單的法律程序的職銜。成為太平紳士無須任何學歷或資格認證要求

哦,這個我不懂,但有提到要

justice of peace 也有Discipline, 也要有license,他們就有點象社會上那些"德高望重"的人,推薦出來的.

任飛飛: justice of peace 也有Discipline, 也要有license,他們就有點象社會上那些"德高望重"的人,推薦出來的.
德州是法官， 主審雞毛蒜皮的事情， 想小額官司， 汽車罰單，結婚。 住在郊區的人， 開車吃了罰單， 大多是去JP的辦公處交款。  
我縣HArris每個PRECINCT都有一個JP辦公室。

德州憲法跟JP有關的（抄的）


Section 19 of Article 5 of the Texas Constitution provides that: Justice of the Peace Courts have original jurisdiction in criminal matters of misdemeanor cases punishable by fine only and such other jurisdiction as may be provided by law.

Original jurisdiction is the authority to accept a case at its inception, try it and pass judgment based upon the laws and facts. This is distinguished from appellate jurisdiction which is jurisdiction to review a court』s action.

The Justice of the Peace performs the functions of a magistrate and conducts inquests. Justices are required to set bonds and conditions as well as perform additional magistrate duties.

A Justice of the Peace may issue warrants for search and arrest, conduct preliminary hearings, administer oaths, perform marriages, and must serve as coroner in counties where there is no provision for a medical examiner.

The Justice Court also functions as a small claims court in civil matters in which exclusive jurisdiction is not in District or County Court and the amount of controversy does not exceed $10,000. The Court can also deal with matters concerning foreclosure of mortgages and enforcement of liens on personal property.
