Dear sandra,
It』s an unbelievable spectacle that shocks the soul. Dogs, and thousands of them, rounded up, crammed on top of each other in cages, and trucked over long distances.
Their suffering is immense. Their destination is the Yulin dog meat 「festival」 in southern China.
This barbaric event happens in the city of Yulin, in Guangxi province. Thousands of dogs, many of them stolen pets, are captured and transported over long distances under horrific conditions.
Once in Yulin, they』re held in crowded cages without food or water until they are killed. Often, they are beaten and their throats are slit in front of other terrified animals. Most Chinese citizens reject this practice, and we』re committed to supporting them in changing their laws.
We are working with local groups to determine legal options. We』re meeting with officials, organizing protests and advertising to expose the cruelty. Ending the Yulin dog meat event is achievable! Just last week, the local government banned its employees from attending the festival due to international outrage. Our efforts are making a difference!
But pressure from around the world makes a difference! Just a few years ago, a similar event in China was shut down due to bad publicity. Hong Kong and Taiwan have both banned the horrific dog meat trade -- because citizens spoke out.
Thank you for all you do for animals.
Sincerely,
Andrew Rowan
