蒹葭 Where is she

白露為霜，      Frosted dew-drops gleam.

所謂伊人，      Where was she seen?

在水一方。      Beyond the stream.

溯洄從之，      Upstream I go;

道阻且長；      The way』s so long.

溯游從之，      And downstream，lo！

宛在水中央。  She』s there among.

蒹葭萋萋，      The reeds turn white，

白露未晞。      Dew not yet dried.

所謂伊人，      Where』s she so bright？

在水之湄。      On the Other side.

溯洄從之，      Upstream I go；

道阻且躋；      Hard is the way.

溯游從之，      And downstream，lo！

宛在水中坻。  She』s far away.

蒹葭采采，      The reeds still there，

白露未已。       With frost dews blend.

所謂伊人，       Where』s she so fair？

在水之涘。       At  river』s  end.

溯洄從之，       Upstream  I go；

道阻且右；       The way does wind.

溯游從之，       And downstream，lo！

宛在水中沚。   She』s far behind.
