　Self-disciplined people are not all outstanding, but nearly all outstanding people are self-disciplined people. Self-discipline is pivotal to happiness and usefulness. It is the master of all the virtues, and has its root in self-respect.

　　自律的人不一定都優秀，但優秀的人基本都是自律的。自律是獲取幸福和成就事業不可或缺的能力。它根植於自尊，掌控著所有美德。

　　Self-discipline requires self-knowledge and an accurate assessment of your current abilities.

　　自律要求自我認識以及對自己能力的正確評估。

　　First, self-knowledge is a preface to self-control. A fair amount of self-examination is good; too much leads to morbidness; too little conducts to careless and hasty action.

　　首先，要做到自知，才能做到自律。平常應適當地自我反省;需要注意的是，反省過多會導致精神病態，過少則會讓我們粗心大意、草率行事。

　　Second, the man who would succeed in any great undertaking must hold all his faculties under perfect control; they must be disciplined and drilled until they quickly and cheerfully obey the will.

　　其次，想在事業上取得成功，就必須很好地把握自己的才能;他們必須受到良好的教育和訓練，這樣才能愉悅地迅速地服從自身的意願。

　　We all know that self-discipline is in fact self-management. If you want to get slim, you need to manage your appetite. If you want to succeed, you need to manage your heart. Think of your mind as a reservoir in which you have been storing up all the potential power. You will now learn to release those power in precise quantities and specific directions. This is the essence of self-discipline.

　　自律，其實就是自我管理。想要減肥，就得把自己的嘴巴管住。想要成功，就得把自己的心管住。把你的心智想象成是一座貯存你潛在能力的貯存庫，你現在應學習從庫中釋放適當數量的力量，並將它導引到正確方向，這就是自律的本質。

　　So set your goal and write down your reasons for them. Establish a list for your daily work and life, and execute them out without mercy. This is not sacrificing your freedom. This is freedom.

　　定個目標，並寫下原因吧。每天為自己的工作和生活列出一個清單，然後毫不留情地執行它。這並不是犧牲自由，這恰恰就是自由。

　　Only in self-discipline can you stop being a slave of all the trivial things in your life. Only in self-discipline can you achieve the success you desire.
