我中學一位同學現在在上海為政府制定中小學的新的教學大綱. 他告訴我，現在中國政府將全世界各個國家的教學計劃，都進行了深入的考量，將引進許多新的教育理念，比如說創新能力，領導能力，分析解決問題的能力等等的培養，並參照別國的教學大綱，按照自己的國情，專門設計教學計劃在中小學中開課. 同時政府提供資金，為中小學生走出課堂到社會中去實踐，提供具體的運行和單位. 小學初中學生大多數在本地，而高中以後就可以在全國遊走實習和參觀了. 同時在設計課程中將課程模塊化，可以有不同的環節，每一個環節可以有很多的變化和選擇，這樣就提供了靈活性多樣性和創造性, 就不是幾億孩子同一課本的情形了.  那人才的背景就豐富而又多樣，有助於出各種人才. 可以看得出現在中國教育理念在進步，開始趕上時代，提供多樣性為市場，為現實社會，為將來人類進步服務了. 但是我還要說幾句. 中國有那麼多人口和那麼多的孩子，中國的發展需要很多各種各樣的人才，在中國的教學大綱覆蓋下培養出人才，是主流通識人才，而且年齡段是小學到高中. 首先, 有很多特殊的人才不包括在這個培養系統中，靠這樣子的一般課程是培養不出特殊人才的. 熟練掌握一門樂器尚有兩萬小時為前提，那要在某一行業培養頂尖專才，就需要高強度的課程訓練.  這些課程國外很多學校都有，比如說小學三年級開始學樂器，免費的，但沒有一個大音樂家是這樣培養出來的. 從小學開始孩子就學第二外語，沒見過一個孩子可以光靠學校上課可以精通一門語言的. 總之, 這樣的教學效果是要打折扣的. 有很多能力以及文化生活方面的事，是不能靠在學校學到的. 第二，這沒有包括從出生到小學階段，而真正決定一個孩子的天賦和性向的關鍵時刻，是在出生到小學這一個階段，尤其是藝術音樂語言體育方面的. 因為這個時候孩子的生理心理發展，可塑性吸收能力非常強的. 如果小孩子兩歲前學游泳，他在水下可以自動屏住呼吸，睜開雙眼，非常自如，如魚得水. 可是長大一點以後學游泳，孩子頭都不情願放在水裡. 我看見很多五歲以前鋼琴彈得很好的孩子，說實在話他們的樂感是在襁褓中培養的，高強度訓練不僅是從幼兒園時才開始的. 還有小孩子五歲以前學語言，根本不費吹灰之力的，誰教他，很自然看見誰就講誰的語言，比起長大以後學，就沒有那個語言的原始正宗味道了. 第三，按照課程，小孩子所接觸的大多數是當地的事物. 這些孩子本來就很熟悉，到高中才去外地，也還是同一個中國文化. 我帶Jackie去看克里姆林宮東正教聖女大教堂，去看梵蒂岡St Pedro天主教大教堂，去看米蘭科隆哥特式基督教堂，去看伊斯坦布爾的藍色清真寺，印度的泰姬陵，還有中國的石窟和遍布各地新建的大佛. 文化的東西要從小接觸才好！第四，這不包括高等教育和就業，可那才是重要的呢！這也不包括興趣愛好，人生多乏味呀.
