說起乘客, 似乎要比談論司機有趣的多.通過人們在的士里種種表現, 就能了解到一個社會基本結構和看到人性的最基本的演示(說得懸了點). 對司機而言乘客終歸是皇帝, 這麼一來皇帝自然會有一番精彩的表演.
1. 白領上班族. 他們總是穿帶整潔(clean),言辭較為禮貌,是的士最大的客源. 因為他們大多數都持有業務信用卡(coporate card), 所以對車錢多少不是很在乎. 經常為趕時間, 就想叫你隨便停泊車輛, 搞不好會讓你吃上一張罰款單. 不過他們是最受歡迎的一族.
2. 休閑族. 他們是有錢又有時間的一族. 對司機愛理不理, 連要去哪裡都懶得告訴你. 經常連續地變換目的地. 時而有些古怪的要求．
3. 政客. 這幫人表裡不一，臉面上很客氣，一肚子壞水．你要是走錯了路，一定會咬著你不放，非要拿到點補償方可罷手．
4. 遊客. 在悉尼，英國和美國的遊客最多．
－ 英國人；很討厭！一上車就懷疑你在騙他們的錢，他們會一次又一次地問你是否確實知道他們要去的地方．還經常在言語之間流入出他們是澳大利亞人的鼻祖，好象澳洲人還是英國人的子民．還常用帶有蔑視人的口氣問你些問題．有一次，我當作澳洲人的面說一位英國人有點種族歧視，急的那位差一點兒和我幹起來．還有一般的英國人都不給小費．要是給了你一，兩塊錢的小費，也會給你強調一下：給小費了！
－ 美國人； 自從９．１１以後，在外旅遊時，謹慎了許多，不象過去那麼囂張了．有時會把自己說成是加拿大人．美國人對全球貿易很是自豪，一看見 McDonald or StarBucks 就開心．他們通常會給不少小費．
－ 徳國和北歐人；這些遊客都比較熱情大方，同你交流不會讓人感到不安，挺親切的．
－ 中國人； 現在的中國遊客和留學生的人數是與日俱增，坐 Taxi 的中國人也增了不少． 國人大多都很禮貌，就是同司機的交流甚少．特彆強調的是現在的留學生太有錢了．花銷實在驚人．如今的中國人給人們的印象也是越來越好．就是說話聲音有點過大．有一點感覺很明顯，就是中國的旅遊的地方和行程安排還是停流在７０，８０年代的旅遊方式．重點：Casino and Kings X...
5. 誣賴們.
－ 貪便宜的誣賴；明明身上沒有錢或是錢不夠，還是要把的士來坐．到頭來就說不知道沒有帶錢，然後說聲 sorry!
－ 不客氣的誣賴；到達目的地，開車們就跑． 應該請劉翔教教我們怎麼能跑的比他們快．
－ 該死的誣賴；下車前還要打你一劫，錢物拿走不算，搞不好把你揍一頓，還有外帶把車也開走的，真該死！作者: willshine 時間: 2006-10-30 04:59

hopefully the driver is not lossing the money.
$10(toll)+20(rent)+7(gas)+30(wages)=$67 cannot even make a decent wages! (there are other cost as well, I cannot remember like fines...); so with the risk of the job, it is just not worth to do it...
my neighbour cross the stree, he was from canton, and was out of job (IT) and difficult to find one, start to drive the cab... just an option out of no option... we just have to show more respect to them, becaue most of them can go for the dole instead of risk themselves on the wild streets of sydney!! so many 'mad' people there!
one of my friend (IT PHD holder) had been knocked off 100 butts first night job...I told him to just think himself as lucky one(he was not hurt)... because people just took the money out of his upper shirt pocket...while he was trying to give change out!!!

cabcharge system is owned by a public company which provide wireless financial services... and they charges 10% service fees to cover their own cost.. and shareholder's profit.... and Plus 10% GST on that 10% service charge of cabcharge... really a rip off of both gov. and cabcharge, I recken 5% is already very high... poor cab drivers.'willshine' must have been thinking the cab driver was going to charge extra for his own profit.
cab service is expensive relatively. but if you try to take the Bus or train, the trouble and time.... you better take the cab...and I think you will be happier to pay the cab after I have given you that many inside figures...
You might can ask your friend to pick you up... unless you love to spend time with that friend, otherwise... because you need to take him or her to have lunch together and spend time..... cost more than the cab..
