2013年5月3日，有人在美國政府網站「we the people」貼出一份請願書（附鏈接），聲稱朱令案司法調查受到政治干擾而神秘中止，要求遣返據稱是朱令案主要嫌犯Jasmine Sun。據網站信息有超過15萬人簽署了名字。
這一請願兩年之後被官方拒絕。拒絕的原因是這樣的：
We decline, however, to comment on the specific request in your petition. As the We the People Terms of Participation explain, to "avoid the appearance of improper influence, the White House may decline to address certain procurement, law enforcement, adjudicatory, or similar matters properly within the jurisdiction of federal departments or agencies, federal courts, or state and local government."。
我們（白宮）拒絕對你們的請願作出評價。鑒於（We the People) 網站《參與條款》，「為了避免出現不良影響，白宮可以拒絕干預特定財政、執法、審判或其他類似行為，因為這些行為在聯邦政府部門或者機構、聯邦法院、州立或地方政府的管轄權內。」。
